How Much Does a Beach Wedding Cost? A USA Budget Breakdown
Understand beach wedding cost with dated USA venue examples, catering and bar prices, rentals, service charges and often-missed expenses.

A beach wedding cost is not one number: a ceremony package, a venue rental and a complete wedding budget buy very different things. The useful comparison is what your guest count and date actually require. Below are published American examples checked October 13, 2026, including a clearly dated 2024 banquet packet. These are evidence for building a budget, not a national average or a promise of availability.
Start with three separate totals
Put ceremony costs, reception costs and personal/vendor costs in separate columns. A beach permit and folding chairs do not buy dinner. A restaurant rental does not necessarily include a ceremony. A resort package may cover food, furniture and staff but exclude photography, flowers, attire and accommodation. Before comparing proposals, write the same guest count, date range, meal style and event duration on every inquiry. Ask whether each total includes tax, service fees, setup, cleanup and the indoor backup.
Venue fees: a real dated comparison
Duke’s Malibu’s November 18, 2024 wedding packet lists an Ocean Room rental of $750 Monday–Thursday, $1,000 Friday/Sunday and $1,500 Saturday. Its corresponding service-inclusive totals are $915, $1,220 and $1,830; sales tax is additional. A ceremony package is separately listed at $1,000, or $1,220 with service. Peak dates can have higher rental charges, and food-and-beverage minimums vary. These historical figures illustrate why a low room rental is not a complete beach wedding price. [1]
An inclusive package is not just a room rental
Monterey Beach Station’s official wedding page, updated June 3, 2026, advertises Monday–Thursday packages starting at $11,000, with packages up to $20,000 November–April and $38,000 May–October. The page says package pricing includes taxes and fees and varies with date, guest count, menus and bar choices. Its inclusions cover catering, bar service, tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, glassware and an event team. Do not compare that package directly with Duke’s room-only fee or assume the starting package fits any guest count. Request its written inclusions and minimums for your date. [2]
Catering and bar: calculate before comparing
Monterey publishes catering at $97–$140 per guest and bar packages at $31–$46 per guest. Food includes three passed hors d’oeuvres, a stationary display, dinner and service staff. For 50 guests, those itemized food-and-bar ranges produce $6,400–$9,300 before the page’s 23% operations fee and applicable sales tax. With that fee alone, the arithmetic becomes $7,872–$11,439. This is an illustration from published per-person rates, not a full wedding quote: venue charges, minimums and selected menus still matter. Do not add the operations fee twice if you are quoted a tax-and-fee-inclusive package. [2]
Florida packages: the plus signs matter
The Palms Hotel & Spa in Miami Beach publishes lunch weddings from $115++ per person, brunch from $149++, and its Sunday–Thursday Coral Reef dinner option from $165++. Silver Mist starts at $190++, Golden Sands at $205++ and Mother of Pearl at $245++. At 50 guests, the $165++ base is $8,250 before the additional amounts represented by “++”. Ask for the exact service charge, tax treatment, ceremony site fee and minimum spend rather than treating a package’s base price as the amount you will pay. The page was checked October 13, 2026; it is not a dated guarantee for a future season. [3]
Rentals: pay for the missing pieces, not duplicates
Get a furniture inventory before approaching a rental company. Monterey explicitly includes tables, chairs, linens and place settings in its packages. The Palms FAQ likewise lists tables, chairs, china, flatware, linens, setup and cleanup in its site fee, with package-specific variations. By contrast, The Wauwinet’s 2022 catering packet says tented lawn events must supply their own china, glassware and silverware regardless of group size; groups over 90 also need supplemental service-item rentals. That older policy is a useful dated example of hidden production needs, not a current quote. No universal rental price is assumed here: request delivery, collection and sand-access labor as separate line items. [2,4,5]
Small ceremony packages can reduce production
Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head publishes a Monday–Thursday micro-wedding package for up to 50 guests starting at $1,000+. It includes the beach permit, up to 50 white folding chairs, bamboo arbor and décor, setup and breakdown, rehearsal, coordinator, guest parking and an indoor backup. Dinner and refreshments are suggested paid additions, not included reception promises. Seaside Wedding San Diego lists $3,400 for up to 20 guests, $3,600 for 21–40 and $3,800 for 41–60 in its full-service ceremony packages, with permits, officiant, two hours of photography, arch, chairs, flowers, music and coordination. Different inclusions explain the different prices. Both are undated offers checked October 13, 2026. [6,7]
Overlooked expenses to ask about
Budget for transport, parking, hotel commitments, vendor meals, overtime, weather cover, sound equipment, rental delivery, accessibility and cleanup only after obtaining actual quotes. The Palms FAQ publishes event valet at $20 per vehicle and overnight valet at $45; 20 event vehicles therefore represent $400 if the couple covers parking. Its beach ceremony requires a City of Miami Beach permit and prohibits electrical equipment on the beach. That may change your sound plan. The Wauwinet’s 2022 packet separately lists a 15% service charge and 7.5% administrative fee, plus tax conditions; an administrative fee is not automatically a staff tip. [4,5]
Build a quote you can actually use
For each venue, request: site and ceremony fees; food minimum versus per-person spend; bar duration; service/admin percentages; taxes; included rentals; permit responsibility; weather backup; required vendors; transport; and overtime. Then add the costs of your chosen photographer, flowers, music, attire and travel. Keep a contingency based on your remaining uncertainties rather than an invented national percentage. The best value may be a higher upfront package that removes rentals and staff coordination—or a simple ceremony with a restaurant dinner afterward. What matters is the complete written total, not the headline fee.
FAQ: Is a beach wedding automatically cheaper?
No. A small ceremony can be inexpensive compared with a full reception, but private resort minimums, transport and production can reverse that advantage. Published examples above are different products, not a nationwide price range. Ask for a current proposal and compare identical guest counts and inclusions.
